Education

In the context of the clusters development and competitiveness poles, the Walloon Government has decided to heavily support actions aiming at promoting, develop and support education and trainings subscribing to the  technological innovation dynamic.  For Skywin, as reminder, the three major axis are:
-    the « + Composite »
-    the « + Intelligent »
-    the « + Applications and Services »

Trainings that are managed by Skywin are usually correlated with market demand in terms of specific trainings directly linked with projects technologies, but also to more transversal needs meant to improve the indutrial performance or the so-called soft skills.

Specific trainings are elaborated within the labellized projects of the cluster.  Those trainings are essentially linked to the different research, development, pre-production and finally production steps following the life of a new product or technology in Aerospace.

More general trainings represent an important source of knowledge for all Aerospace technicians and workers of the region, and can sometimes be required before starting a specific training. They have been elaborated with the objective of providing all basic skills required to tackle more advanced or specific trainings.

The training and education offer in the Wallon Region in the aerospace sector is remarkably organized and structured regarding:
 

• continuous and qualifying education around WAN , our unique educational center (Wallonie Aerotraining Network), Technifutur, Technofutur and CPEHN
• superior technical education at Haute Ecole Provinciale de Charleroi Université du Travail (HEPCUT), Haute Ecole Rennequin SUALEM, Institut Supérieur Industriel de Bruxelles (Paul Henri Spaak), etc.
• education in the secondary technical schoolsat Institut Sainte Marie in Couvin (7th year), etc.
• education to Space and "edutainment" of youngsters and larger public at Euro Space Center located in Transine-Redu
• and of course, university level education and diploma at  ULg whixh proposes 1 Masters  in Aeronautics engineering and 1 Masters in Space Sciences, at UCL and more specifically with its Polytechnics School of Leuven and at ULB though its new mechanical engineering program, with aeronautics orientation, at FUNDP in Namur and UMH in Mons.

All those tools allow Skywin to face challenges that were highlighted in a study (performed by Skywin and University of Liège in June 2008). Details and conclusions of this study are available here (French version only).
